Welcoming Remarks

The Honorable David Heineman welcomed attendees to the afternoon session, praising the work done by the military men and women based in Nebraska. He thanked them for their service in protecting the freedom enjoyed by U.S. citizens every day, and for playing an important part in the task of making the world a safer place. The governor also offered words of appreciation to the local industries that produce innovative products and services, generate business revenues, and support military families, thereby making Nebraska one of the few states where receipts continue to exceed expectations and the state government is well positioned to weather the tough economic times ahead. Governor Heineman is well aware of the role that the space industry plays in this success, and he congratulated the Space Foundation on its 25 years of service to the nation through space advocacy.
