Strategic Space Symposium Panel Focuses on International Collaboration

Australia, Canada, France, Israel, Japan, United Kingdom, and NATO Represented

OMAHA, Neb./COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Oct. 16, 2009) - Space is increasingly an international arena and nowhere is international collaboration more important than in the realm of global security.

The International Collaboration for the Future panel at the Strategic Space Symposium will feature military representatives from around the globe who will explore U.S. and Allied common interests in the space domain.

Among the topics the panel will discuss are: information sharing on common threats; freedom of action in space; and space operations norms and standards. The panel will be moderated by Air Commodore Mark Roberts, Royal Air Force, United Kingdom.

The panel is part of the Nov. 3 agenda for the Strategic Space Symposium, which will be held Nov. 2-4, at the Qwest Center Omaha in Omaha, Neb.

Presented through a Space Foundation/United States Strategic Command partnership and themed Advancing Space Capabilities and Strengthening Operations to Promote Global Security, the Strategic Space Symposium will provide a platform for discussing challenging space issues and shaping space policy, in addition to showcasing industry best practices, cutting-edge technologies, and emerging space capabilities. The panelists join an impressive group of featured speakers, panelists, and track session/breakout leaders from the military, Department of Defense, U.S. and allied government, industry, and academia, who will discuss:

  • Space situational awareness, defense of space, and protection of assets;
  • Current space policy and shaping future policies;
  • Warfighting needs;
  • Capability gaps in space technologies

About USSTRATCOM
